Essential Footwear for a Romantic City Break

We all need to escape from the monotony of everyday life once in a while, and what better way to do that than to take a romantic city break with your loved one? A weekend city break is often easy on the budget, and there’s plenty to see and do in several cities all over Europe whether you’re planning on seeing traditionally romantic destinations such as Paris, Rome and Venice, or venturing somewhere a little less tourist-packed such as Aarhus, Porto or Nantes. Wherever your next city break will be, packing shoes that are comfortable and stylish is essential. We’ve put together some essential footwear tips for your romantic city break.

    #1. Ankle Boots:

If you’re going to be doing a lot of walking around and want to look your best whilst making sure that your feet are comfortable and supported, a good pair of leather ankle boots is a must. And, the best part is that they will look great with any outfit that you decide to throw on from jeans and a shirt to a cute dress and sun-hat. Whether you’re taking a winter break or going to explore another city in the sun, you can be sure that a versatile pair of boots will look fabulous. Check out the fabulous range of ankle boots available from Dune. Whether you want a timeless, classic pair in brown or black leather or a bang-on-trend pair of snakeskin patterned booties, they’ve got everything you need for your city break footwear wardrobe.

    #2. Ballet Pumps:

A cute ballet pump is a city break essential. They’re small enough to pack a couple of pairs into your weekend bag and versatile enough to wear with almost anything. And, they make a great backup that you can easily carry with you just in case other shoes start to chafe whilst you’re walking around. If you’re planning on pounding the pavements and exploring as much as you can, be sure to pack a pair of pumps that offers your feet plenty of support. A small heel is better than completely flat as this will help to take some of the pressure off your feet as you walk around.

    #3. Sneakers or Trainers:

The good news is that more and more people are wearing sneakers and trainers as everyday footwear, and they can be paired with almost any outfit that you put on when you’re exploring another city. Definitely pack a pair of Converse, Vans or another favourite pair of trainers since they’re comfortable and versatile and will be the perfect choice of footwear when you’re spending a lot of time walking around and want to prioritise practicality above everything else. Plus, they’re less likely to chafe and rub your feet if you’re walking for long periods of time.

    #4. Heels:

Last but not least, if you’re going on a romantic city break, then you can definitely expect to be going on some amazing dates with your significant other. Whether you’re planning a romantic meal or a trip to a renowned bar or club in the city that you’re visiting, you’re going to want a pair of heels that finish off your outfit perfectly. Since heels can be quite chunky to pack and will take up a lot of space in your bag, you’ll probably want to consider taking just one pair that will go with all the dressy outfits you’re planning to wear for meals and drinks. Nude stilettos are a perfect choice; you can pair them with almost any outfit from jeans and a cute top to a stunning dress.

Which shoes would you never go without for a romantic city break? We’d love to hear from you in the comments.
