Why CBD is proving to be the Most Powerful Superfood

Years ago, the true impact of CBD was brought to light when a little girl named Charlotte went from having hundreds of seizures a week to none at all after taking a dose of CBD. Since then, most people in the wellness world have used CBD to successfully manage and even cure various conditions including anxiety and inflammation. In time, the use of CBD has exploded from seriously ill individuals in need of immediate and lasting relief to people who just want to feel better.

The Difference between CBD and Marijuana

Marijuana or the cannabis plant contains a very high level of THC (the compound responsible for getting you high). It is however important to consider that cannabis with less than 0.3% THC is considered hemp. The cannabis plant also contains more than 100 other compounds, collectively referred to as cannabinoids. Unlike marijuana CBD doesn’t cause intoxication.

The Physiological Health Benefits of CBD

CBD has a dynamic and comprehensive effect on the body, depending on the situation. But there are a lot of proven physiological health benefits of the compound on the human body including promoting homeostasis. The general consequence of a well-balanced system is a reduction inflammation, decreased blood pressure and various other anti-angiogeic and apoptotic mechanisms that can kill cancer cells.

Of the many benefits of CBD on the human body, the most well-known is in the treatment of anxiety and insomnia. CBD is ideal for the treatment of insomnia, anxiety and other neurological disorders because it has a dynamic and very close relationship with the central nervous system and the ECS (endocannabinoid system). CBD has been sufficiently proven to affect the mood without causing intoxication. It acts on serotonin receptors and regulates GABA and glutamate to effectively reduce the effects of anxiety.  The compound has also been known to have antidepressant, anxiolytic and antipsychotic qualities.

    Is CBD Safe to Consume?

CBD interacts with many receptors in the brain and body, but it mostly interacts with the body and brain via the Endocannabinoid System. The ECS is a network of receptors that are found throughout the brain and body including the bones. It communicates with virtually all other body systems to keep the body in a balanced state. Because of this vast network of receptors, CBD has potential for very many different applications.

In regards to the safety of consuming CBD, research already conducted on the safety of CBD proves that the compound is no more toxic than every day foods and vitamins.  It is also worth noting that unlike most conventional medication like opioids, CBD is not addictive and doesn’t have the side effects associated with these drugs.

How to Tell if You Have High Quality CBD

One of the best ways to tell if the CBD you have is of very high quality is if the product has been tested by a third party for contaminants and active ingredients. Each CBD product should have a batch report that details each category. That said, it is however more beneficial to buy CBD extracted from therapeutic hemp as opposed to CBD produced from industrial hemp mostly because the former will often have fewer additives and contaminants.

Can you Take CBD if you’ve had a Bad Reaction to Marijuana?

If you are concern about having a bad psychoactive reaction to CBD, you need not worry since CBD unlike marijuana is not psychoactive. But if you’ve had an allergic reaction to marijuana, it is important to consult a doctor before using any help product.
