Wigs Vs Closure Vs Weaves – What’s The Difference?

With so many hair products released in the market in the past few years, you have endless options to change your looks however you want. With the introduction of human hair wigs, closures, and weaves, you can choose any styling option you want to and achieve a unique look. But, to a common person who doesn’t have much knowledge about it, they all look the same.

Most of us are lost on which styling option would look best on us and integrate with our personality. In this article, I will outline the basic differences between wigs, closures, and weaves so that you can easily choose something that matches your style.

    Hair Wigs

The most common and most known form of styling hair is by wearing a wig. A wig can be divided into two categories: human hair wigs and synthetic wigs. According to what craft is used to make these wigs, they can either be handmade or machine made. The three types of wigs readily available in the market are:

    Full Lace Wig

This is a type of wig in which individual strands of hair are coming out to give a more natural look. These wigs can either be applied with the help of an adhesive or can also be sewn in your natural hair if you don’t want any adhesives. Where these wigs give the most authentic hairline, they are also very delicate and must be handled with great care.

    Front Lace Wig

Unlike the full lace wig, this has about 2 to 3 inches of lace in the front. So, they are more durable but offer less flexibility. You can wear it with a high ponytail as they integrate into the existing hairline very easily.

    U-Shaped Wig

This wig has a U shaped opening that blends in with your natural hair. However, it only works if you have selected the right material and the right color; otherwise, it can be visible.

    Hair Closures

A closure is different from a wig as it is an attachment of hair that is sewn in by weaving or turning it into a custom wig of your liking. It is usually 4 inches long and 4 inches wide and can be divided into lace closure and frontal lace closure. Closures are specially designed for people who aim for a natural look and want their hair extensions to be soft and lightweight. If you are looking to get closures, you should take a look at sew in virgin closures. They have a huge collection of closures that blend seamlessly with your natural hair.

    Hair Weaves

They are used to make your hair longer, add volume to them, and increase thickness. A weave is a style when a person’s hair is braided, and a needle is used to sew in the extensions. These extensions last for 6 to 8 weeks, and you can color them to give you a different look. However, the braids that are added are too tight and might cause headaches and soreness.
